Railway vehicle testing
Tests of railway vehicles are performed in the VUZ accredited testing laboratory (TL), which ranks among the most advanced and sought-after laboratories in the field of railway vehicle testing, and at the same time prides of a long-time tradition reaching back to the 1950s.
The range of satisfied and loyal customers of our laboratory includes the world’s leading rolling stock manufacturers such as Alstom, Siemens, Bombardier Transportation, Škoda Transportation, CRRC, PESA and others.
The testing engineers of our laboratory are respected experts in their field of work and are ready to carry out most of the offered tests not only in the VUZ Velim Test Centre, which provides optimal conditions for such testing, but also on external tracks. VUZ is experienced in testing vehicles with different types of traction, including alternative tractions such as hydrogen and batteries.
The VUZ testing laboratory has been accredited since March 31, 1995, and today it is registered under No. 1462 as a holder of the certificate of accreditation issued by the Czech Accreditation Institute (CAI) on the basis of assessment of fulfilment of the accreditation criteria in accordance with ČSN EN ISO/IEC 17025.
Within its quality management system, the VUZ testing laboratory has been continuously developing and updating its testing procedures to keep them in line with the strict requirements of the international, European and national standards and interoperability standards.
Through these tests we check the running characteristics of rolling stock, while verifying its safety as well passenger comfort.
This type of tests covers verification of traction characteristics of traction railway vehicles, train resistance measurement, rolling stock anti-skid equipment testing and measurement of rolling stock energy parameters.
Brake tests include static and dynamic brake tests, anti-skid tests of railway vehicles, braking distance verification.
This type of tests measures railway vehicle parameters impacting humans. They include noise, lighting and vibration tests.
The tests measure interaction between the railway vehicle and the power supply system.
The electrotechnical tests performed by the VUZ testing laboratory include also current collector tests.
In VUZ testing laboratory we measure electromagnetic compatibility with communication and security devices.
These tests aim to protect passengers both during normal operation and during emergencies.
This set of tests includes measurement of heating, cooling (air condi- tioning), air flow, air volume and determination of heat transfer coeffi- cient k.
